Whiteness landscape framework

Environmental Systems

In 2004 the Whiteness Development Company awarded me this contract in the Scottish Highlands. It was my firstsolo professional commission.

The project won the Scottish Placemaking Award in 2006.

This project seeks to optimise the hydrological system of a post-industrial site towards the creation of a holistic andintegrated frameworking for new landscape and dwelling. Hydrology provides a skeleton (both visible and invisible)for animating public and private space. The proposals seek to respect the industrial history of the site through the preservation of major infrastructural fragments that fade into open spaces to give the site its unique atmosphere.
